insomnia has been killed by a grue

I've been a fan of insomnia, AKA Mark Kraft, for a long time. Sometimes I think he's a little too strident or picks the wrong battles, but the information he brings to the LJ community vastly outweighs the criticisms that I could make of him.

insomnia recently made a post about scienceofsleep, a community created in exchange for payment by that movie's production company. insomnia objected to this commercialization, posted that "we will not be sold", and gave a plug to scienceofsuck. I posted a politely dissenting opinion - that I really didn't care whether a group was created for free or for pay as long as I never saw it. There was one link on the main page, but that wasn't as annoying as talk like a pirate day when they changed the whole site's icons and the interface. Many of his readers joined his anti-commercialization rant. You can still see the post in Google's cache.

Today I learned via qp4 that insomnia's account has been suspended. This thread makes it unclear whether he was suspended for criticizing LiveJournal's business decisions or for posting private contact information of chasethestars, LiveJournal's Interaction and Visual Designer. It's also not clear whether the contact information he posted was genuinely "private" (cell phone) as opposed to "public" (dial (415) 344-0056, hit '9' for the company directory).

In any case it's ironic that insomnia appears to have been "disappeared", electronically executed by SixApart on secret charges and secret evidence, without habeas review or the ability to defend himself against his accusers two days after Congress authorized those tactics. If LiveJournal have removed someone for criticizing them, they are bastards.

Update: The previous paragraph is 100% tongue-in-cheek scarasm. Sixapart is not a federal organization, let alone under the direction of the Unitary Executive. insomnia is not under arrest, and there is no civil charge for him to be charged with in the presence of a judge.
